Deer Hunting Season – First Hunt
The archery deer hunting season is underway and I am pretty excited. I went out for the first time last Saturday.
And I saw a few good looking deer. I didn’t get one, but my brother in law did. And I am really happy for him. Great day in the woods.
Looks like rain this saturday, so might just stay home and snooze. I can do this, because it is still early in the season.
My favorite time is RUT, then come rain, sleet, snow, hail, floods whatever – you can bet I will be in my tree.
Good luck to all!
Happy Hunting,
Paul
Bow Hunting Tree Stands
As a deer hunter, there are so many bow hunting tree stands out there, I have found picking the right one is a matter of personal taste. Over the years, I have found that a climbing tree stand works best for me.
Assuming you have a tree stand that you like, getting your stand in your tree preseason is very important.
Here in Pennsylvania, we are just a couple of weeks away from getting out in the woods. That means now is the time to conduct some initial scouting and get my tree stand in the tree.
With Tree Stands, I always put safety first.
- Take a good look at your stand. Check for any rusting metal, missing bolts or nuts.
- If it has a wood base, make sure it is in great condition and has no rot.
- Also, I can’t stress the use of a safety harness enough. Even though it might sound goofy, I prefer a full body harness. While it might not stop a fall, it can reduce severity of injury.
If your stand is not in tip top shape, take a look at your local sporting goods store to find one that will keep you safe!
Happy Deer Hunting!
