My best Archery day in the woods ,without shooting a deer!
I will just say, not every day hunting is always about harvesting a deer. On Saturday, November 14, 2009, I was sitting in my tree stand and saw a very large 4 point buck, following a lovely doe.
I witnessed nature at its finest, as he mounted her. I had never seen this in my 30 plus hunting years. This happened early in the morning. But to my surprise, the same buck came back around again just before dark and mounted her again. I then observed him slashing a tree with his horns. Then another buck, (a spike) laid down right under my ladder for the night.
The other buck and doe were a distance away bedding down for the night. As it was getting to be nightfall, I finally decided I had to come down from the tree. This of course spooked the spike, who in turn, spooked the other buck and doe. They all ran off together.
No I did not get a deer that day, but what an education.
